Individual Psychotherapy

I offer individual psychotherapy for adults experiencing a range of emotional, psychological and relational difficulties. Whether you are seeking support with a particular concern, navigating challenging circumstances, or hoping to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can offer an opportunity to explore your experiences and work towards meaningful change.

Areas I work with include:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Relationship and interpersonal difficulties

  • Low self-esteem, self-criticism and perfectionism

  • Emotional regulation difficulties

  • Stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Grief, loss and life transitions

  • Chronic pain

  • Difficulties related to past experiences

  • Self-exploration and personal development

Therapeutic Approaches

My approach to individual psychotherapy is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic models according to your needs, experiences and goals. The following approaches inform my work and may be incorporated into therapy depending on what is most relevant to your individual circumstances.

A Trauma-Informed Perspective

My practice is guided by trauma-informed principles, which recognise that difficult or overwhelming experiences can influence emotional, psychological, relational and bodily responses.

A trauma-informed approach emphasises emotional safety, collaboration, choice and sensitivity to individual experiences and boundaries. These principles inform how I work with all clients, whether or not trauma is an explicit focus of therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that explores the relationships between thoughts, emotions and behaviours. It focuses on identifying patterns that may contribute to or maintain psychological difficulties and developing alternative ways of thinking and responding. CBT can involve practical strategies, behavioural experiments and exercises that support changes in everyday life.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy approach developed to help individuals process distressing or traumatic experiences that continue to affect them in the present. It involves an eight-phase treatment framework that includes assessment, preparation and memory processing, typically using bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements.

EMDR may be incorporated into individual psychotherapy when clinically appropriate, following an assessment of your needs and readiness.

Attachment-Informed Approach

Attachment-informed psychotherapy considers how our relational experiences can influence our expectations of others, sense of self, emotional responses and patterns of relating. Exploring these experiences can help us understand recurring interpersonal difficulties, responses to closeness or conflict, and ways of navigating relationships.

Somatic Approach

Somatic approach incorporates attention to bodily experiences alongside thoughts, emotions and verbal reflection. This may involve noticing physical sensations, patterns of tension, changes in physiological arousal or how emotions are experienced in the body.

This approach can support emotional awareness, regulation and a deeper understanding of our responses. Body-oriented exploration is incorporated when appropriate, according to your comfort, preferences and therapeutic needs.

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an evidence-informed, body-based approach designed to support individuals who have experienced psychological trauma. It places particular emphasis on bodily awareness, personal choice and developing a sense of agency in relation to one's body.

Unlike conventional yoga classes, TCTSY is not focused on achieving specific postures, improving flexibility or performing movements correctly. Instead, participants are invited to explore gentle movements and notice bodily sensations, with opportunities to make choices about how and whether to engage in each practice.

Sessions use invitational language and offer opportunities to adapt movements or remain still. There is no expectation to discuss personal experiences or traumatic events during the practice.

As a certified TCTSY Facilitator (TCTSY-F), I offer TCTSY as a standalone, individual practice. Elements of TCTSY may also be incorporated into individual psychotherapy when appropriate, particularly through attention to bodily awareness, choice and embodied experience.
